Noha Zayed

 

Noha Zayed is a self-taught photographer, designer, creative entrepreneur and aspiring farmer based in Cairo, Egypt.  Since 2011, she has embarked on a photographic journey exploring her native country of Egypt photographically documenting its forgotten and changing landscapes, architecture, vernacular art forms, customs and people. She is the co-founder of Zafir T-shirts, an Egyptian T-shirt brand. She is also the co-curator of the Arabic Typography Instagram account. Zayed’s work has been exhibited in festivals and platforms across the Middle East such as the Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial and Design Days Dubai.  Her work was featured in a number of publications, magazines and television. Zayed’s other creative endeavors include collaborations on documentary films, music projects and videos and whatever tickles her fancy.

Basma Hamdy

 

BASMA HAMDY is a research-based designer, educator and author. Her first book ‘Walls of Freedom: Street Art of the Egyptian Revolution’ with Don Karl was published in 2014. She has been interviewed and featured extensively in prominent international media –such as The New York Times, Fast Company, Jadaliyya, Huck, Der Spiegel and Print– and exhibited and spoke at several art and design festivals and conferences around the world. Hamdy earned an MFA from MICA, a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BA from the American University in Cairo. She is currently a candidate at PhDArts: Leiden University and The Royal Academy of Art (KABK), The Netherlands.
